Senior Technical Program Manager
The Experimentation Platform (ExP) team’s mission is to accelerate software innovation through trustworthy experimentation.
We believe that Microsoft has to evaluate many ideas quickly in order to out innovate our competition. That is why we have built a platform for getting the data and the analysis as quickly as possible.
We believe that trustworthy results are paramount. Anybody can give you a number but it takes a lot of work and focus to make results as trustworthy as possible. That’s why we spend a great deal of effort auditing our results, comparing our data to other systems of records, estimating statistical significance and building automated checks for our analysis pipeline.
We believe in data and experimentation. A controlled experiment is one of the best ways to evaluate an idea; by comparing real customers’ responses to several versions of software in a controlled experiment, we can calculate the incremental value of your idea using the same metrics that you use to manage your business.
We believe in swinging for the fences. If you want to have great ideas you have to have a lot of them. If you want to find that great new innovation, you have to try bold changes. Our platform is built for rapid feedback and safety. Try something really bold. Lots of ideas fail; failure is an essential part of innovation. But fail faster and use real-time feedback to get your answer as quickly as you can.
We believe we need you. We are looking for a seasoned, very technical PM to help drive our platform to the next level. If you believe in the kind of things we believe in and you have a solid engineering and analytics background, we’d like to talk to you.
The successful candidate will:
- Understand the software development process and bring experience from shipping products as a developer and a PM
- Understand analytics, statistics and know how to measure customer behavior in the online world. We also want someone who knows how to compare the highly variable and “messy” data that comes for measuring things on the web.
- Know how to deliver on time and deliver the right things. We need someone who is very execution focused but knows how to prioritize, delivering value on time not just completed tasks.
Qualifications:
- 10 Years or more experience developing production software
- Coding experience in C#/C++ or similar language
- SQL experience
- M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or other quantitative field. Candidates with very strong equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong fundamentals in data analysis
